The Christopher Stannix ferry had been non-operational since May 22 due to a steering system issue requiring proprietary manufactured parts that were procured internationally. The parts arrived, were installed, and the vessel is resuming service following successful testing and sea trials.
The Craig Blake ferry is currently undergoing scheduled inspections and a substantial repair, and will not be available for service until later this year. Updates on the Craig Blake ferry will be provided in future public service announcements, on the Halifax Transit service disruptions webpage and on Halifax Transit and municipal social media platforms. The municipality appreciates the patience of residents during this service impact.
Halifax Transit's ferry system comprises two routes, linking downtown Halifax to Dartmouth. The fare is $3.00 per ride (or free for children 12 and under), and a standard transfer allows 90 minutes of unlimited travel on both ferries and buses. The Alderney Ferry: Connects the Halifax Ferry Terminal to Alderney Landing in downtown Dartmouth. This route operates seven days a week. Woodside Ferry: Connects downtown Halifax to Woodside, during weekdays.
